Izki

Later.. after our trip to Jabal Akhdar.. we head down to the near town of Izki.. the interesting thing in izki is the 'Jarnan Cave' and the ancient city of Izki..

it is said that the town is like our new concept of an apartment of a housing villa.. there is a wall that protect and close the city.. and only one entrance and exit.. and there will be two men guarding the door to the city.. if you need to see anyone.. u must report to the guards first.. then the guard will ask the person that you want to meet whether you know the said person nor not.. then only he will let you enter the city..

it is said that there were almost 100 families living in this city.. the city is complete with a big mosque, shops and hall..

the cave is situated below the ancient city.. located by the 'Wadi'.. wadi is a dry water bed.. it will become like a river after a heavy rain..

the Cave are among the impressive geological features by the Sultanate of Oman.. they were formed by the changes in the earth structure over the course of hundreds of million of years.. Jarnan cave is one of the most interesting of these.. it lies at the foot of Wadi Halfayn below Al-Nazar village in the district of Izki. Jarnan is distinguished from all other caves in Oman by a famous legend dating from the pre-Islamic era.. it is said that when Islam came into existence a golden calf was hidden deep inside the cave so that no one could reach it.. the story speaks of two passages leading down one side of the cave and of the calf placed on the other.

Jabal Akhdar, Nizwa, OMAN

It was thusrdays morning that we had a trip to 'Jabal Akhdar'.. the second highest mountain after 'Jabal Shams'.. it is located 2090 metres above sea level.. this mountain is higher than our Cameron Highland, Malaysia.. the view is just spectacular and amazing.. awesome.. u colud see the Great Creation of Allah the Almighty..

The day before that, we had a trip to Muscat, the capital of Oman.. we went to invite my parent's friend who is also a Malaysian teaching in Sur, Oman.. he just arrive from Sur.. well i did some shopping to at Zara.. haha.. got myself a few stuff.. well, Sur is quite a coastal city.. it is by the beach.. where most of omani fresh fish came from.. he stayed here in our place for 2 nights.. he loves photography.. he took a lot of beaufitul pictures in jabal akhdar..

these are some pictures taken while we were in Jabal Akhdar.. i love the terrace garden.. i it just beautiful.. before i forget.. the only allowed vehicle to climb up this mountain is a 4wd vehicle.. if you are driving a cute Proton Tiara like me.. well i think that is just impossible to climb up the hill.. the hill a so steep and slopes.. haha..

Jabal Akhdar is very popular for its vegetation and plants and trees.. most of the fruits and flowers and roses are harvest before winter.. because during winter most of the trees will die because of the temperature.. it is so cold that even there is snow up here.. serious dude!! i can show you the pictures.. huhu..
Well enjoy!! see ya!!

DUBAI

It was a wonderful weekend for me and my family.. What we did was.. we drove ourself to Dubai.. haha.. on thursday we head to Buraimi, a town border to UAE.. it took us about 2 hour and a half to reach Buraimi.. We went across a town called Ibri..

a long the day to Buraimi.. we saw desert and we even saw sand dunes and we had the chance to experience the sand of the desert.. the sand is actually quite find, not like any ordinary sand that you can find anywhere.. desert sand is quite different..

while we were driving along the road to Buraimi.. while going across the desert.. the wind were blowing quite strong.. it had made the sand dune to change it form and the fine sand flew over the road and somehow had cover few parts of the road.. it was like thick flog flying over the road.. haha.. cool experience..

DUBAI!! cool place.. not the weather.. the scenery.. haha.. Dubai is hot this month.. maybe end of the year would be much cooler.. Right now the temperature might be the same as Muscat.. Now Muscat is 50 degr celcs in the afternoon!! haha.. not that bad compared to Malaysia.. huhu..

If you enter Dubai City.. you can see there are huge number of cranes all over the city.. they are still constructing many more tall building.. like the above picture i took.. the tallest tower in the world.. it is called the 'Burj Dubai'.. woohoo!! no wonder people said that around 15% - 25% world's crane are in Dubai.. well at least i have seen it myself and to confirm the statement might be true.. huhu..

they are also constructing the biggest theme park in the world.. currently the Disney World Florida is the biggest.. it is said that the 'Dubailand' will be twice the size of Disney World.. haha.. i hope the entrance fee is cheap.. huhu..

well.. a lot more things comin up in Dubai.. make sure you are aware of the development in Dubai.. haha.. not really actually.. what for.. just come to Dubai to experience what many people of the world had eperience Dubai..

Till then..

A Day in Muscat

On thursday, 8th of May '08, me and my family (mama, abah & awai), we had a trip to muscat.. our nearest town.. it is not that near.. we consider it the nearest town because it seems that every weekend you can find us there in muscat.. haha..

on the way to muscat.. we stop at a nearby town called Fanja.. Fanja is popularly known as a place that produces pottery..

then.. we continue our trip to muscat..

we had our lunch at a town calleh Mutrah.. a name of a place in Muscat.. the best thing is that we saw groups of teenagers swimming in a small pool i guess.. well the pool is actually part of the sea.. haha.. they were doing some trick here and there.. flipping their body into the water.. it was something interesting to see..

later.. we head on to City Centre.. haha.. shopping!! well because the whole city is closed and sleeps from 12 pm to 430 pm, because of the heat (41 c), the only shopping mall that is open is the Muscat City Centre.. and again the thing is that me and my bro did some shopping at ZARA!! woohoo!! thanx to my beloved mother and father.. i got myself a cool shirt!! woohoo!!

well this picture were taken before we went to City Centre.. we had detour to Qantab.. it is on top of a hill overlooking a Marina.. you can have a Dolphin Trip there.. it is a half day trip to see the dolphin in the middle of the sea.. not in a pool or in an aquarium.. beside Marina, here in Qantab there is a Dive Centre for tourists and local people to go diving into the beautiful blue water ocean.. and there is of course, Shangri-La Hotel and Resort, here in Qantab..

after the shopping.. we head on to Ruwi.. Ruwi is like 'Low Yat' in Malaysia.. here they sell computer parts and handphones and car accessories.. the different thing is that low yat is a mall but Ruwi is a town.. haha.. we jad our dinner here in Ruwi.. in a Pakistani Restaurant.. the food was nice.. seriously dude.. original from Pakistan.. haha..

after the dinner.. we head our to Mutrah.. the most popular place.. for my family.. we love it here.. the place is cool and cozy i guess.. even tourists love to come here in Mutrah.. it is like 'Pasar Seni in KL' but much bigger.. it is a town.. haha.. well actually the purpose we came here that day was to buy a lot of abaya for my friends in Malaysia.. they 'pesan' to buy.. but they will give money.. it is not a gift from me or the Sultan.. huhu.. but it is damn cheap and pretty i tell you.. you can never find it Malaysia.. huhu.. well i hope they like it.. i personally 'tempah' to match their size.. seriuosly dude!! i did..

well till then.. chiow..

Clouds In Oman

Well, this rarely happens in Oman.. Usually in Oman, there will only be the beautiful blue sky.. seriously dude.. huhu.. but yesterday.. i saw clouds.. and i was amaze because it seldom happens here.. so i took out my camera and took some pictures of the clouds in Nizwa, Oman..

my mom told me that, since my parents came here to Oman, there had yet been a single drop rain.. it has been 4 months now.. well the local people told us that the most is that 3 times.. per year.. huhu.. there can be no rain at all for couple of years.. With the Power of Allah.. people in Oman has a lot of water beneath the earth that can be supplied to the whole of Oman for many years.. if it rains in Oman, is will be a heavy rain.. and it will cause flood to most area.. and the 'wadi' (dry water bed) will be filled with water, it will become like a river.. but only for a couple of hours.. and the water dissapears..

in Oman. there are 2 seasons.. winter and summer.. summer time will be very cold here.. but in summer time.. like right now.. the temperature can reach 41-44 c.. haha.. they say in august will be hotter.. the temperature rise up till 51 c.. haha. so stay in your house for the day.. go out only in the evening.. huhu..

so do come to oman.. to experience the beautiful scenery of this beautiful country.. it will be a totally different experience.. for Malaysian.. it will be a great place to see something totally different from Malaysia, in terms of its culture, climate, people, language and scenery.. and for Malaysian.. I know you love to shop and shop.. come to Oman and Dubai to shop.. rather than going to somewhere else.. there are good and better brands here in Oman.. furthermore, it is cheaper compared to other places.. look out for my next post about the 'Beverly Hills' and 'Orange County' in Oman.. till then.. chiow..
p/s: the last picture is me with the 'date' tree.. you can find it anywhere in Oman.. by the road side.. inside a house.. and for your information.. one tree can produce up to 270 kg per harvest.. haha.. no kidding maa..
